Forehead Wrinkles are, in many cases, the first wrinkles to develop on the face. They tend to develop more quickly than most wrinkles because such a wide variety of facial expressions are responsible for creating them- from happy to sad, contemplative to surprised, confused to angry. Our eyebrows and our foreheads move with almost every expression we make, and as a result, develop slight furrows that eventually turn into permanent wrinkles.
There are two types of forehead wrinkles- the first is the "forehead row", which is the row of creases that usually appears just above the eyebrows. The proper name for the second is "glabellar lines" (the glabella is the space between the eyebrows and above the nose), also known more popularly as "vertical wrinkles" or "frown lines". Glabellar lines are the deep vertical furrows that form between the eyebrows.
There are as many ways to treat such wrinkles as there are different ways to get them in the first place. Today, the most popular medical procedure to end this type of wrinkles is botox (botulinum toxin) which is a temporary solution- its effects usually last about 4 months. Despite the temporary nature of this method, the forehead is still the most popular location to receive botox treatments. Another cosmetic surgical procedure, which is probably the most invasive option to fix the problem, is the "brow lift" surgery, which is like a mini-facelift that concentrates on the area around and above the brows. If your wrinkles are very slight, then a dermal filler or chemical peel may be the best quick way to rid yourself of the slight wrinkles before they get worse.
Although they don't necessarily bear instantaneous results the way a cosmetic surgical procedure would, anti-wrinkle creams are also a great way to fight deep lines, and to protect your skin to keep further deep wrinkles from forming. When combined with a proper prevention regimen (see below), anti-wrinkle creams are even more effective. Check out our reviews of the market's top anti-wrinkle products here.
Perhaps the most interesting and fastest-growing wrinkle treatment is facial exercise, which is also referred to as facial yoga. The people who practice these exercises say that they expand the muscles under the skin on the face, which causes the skin on the face to retract some, therefore eliminating wrinkles, or at least cutting back on them a lot.
As the saying goes, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". In the case of forehead wrinkles, the easiest and best prevention method would be to never raise your eyebrows again. Obviously, this is impractical, since raised eyebrows are such a major part of our expression set as humans. Instead, start with the most basic of skincare tips- drink plenty of water, cleanse daily, use sunblock daily, and have a personal anti-aging regimen that includes vital anti-aging ingredients like antioxidants, retinoids, and peptides. This will help ensure that new forehead lines will not develop over time due to factors that you can't control, such as your sleeping position and genetic factors.
